Phew! Every year the holidays seem to rush toward me faster and faster – I never feel as if I’m ready, and this year was no exception. Adding to the personal rush of family and gifts was the influx of holiday orders we fulfilled here at The Project Cottage. We’d like to thank all of our terrific customers who thought of us for gifts for their loved ones and hope all were well received!
My kid’s teachers loved the coastal Christmas ornaments I gave them, although they may have loved the Apple Pie Moonshine I tied the ornament around even more! We did new labels this year and had to make two large batches of moonshine to give to all our friends and family as well, and we may make another batch for New Years Eve – refer to my blog post here for the recipe. Here’s a pic of the finished product:
As often happens this time of year, we’re looking back on 2013 at the same time we’re planning forward for 2014. The last year saw many changes here at The Project Cottage, we’ve had tremendous growth and are starting to see all our hard work and planning pay off. We streamlined our website and ramped up all our social media efforts, all while coming up with new designs and collections and keeping our growing business going. Its been challenging, but my goal of working full-time for The Project Cottage is getting closer and closer.
Our intern Caitlin Ford was a big part in implementing our social media strategy, she got us set up and started on all the platforms we want to build a presence – especially Pinterest and Facebook. I think I learn something new everyday about how to best use social media to engage and learn from our customers. We really do want to have a conversation with our customers and build a community, please check out our Pinterest boards and Facebook page and let us know what you think.
Unfortunately we’re losing Caitlin in 2014, she’ll be studying abroad next semester and we wish her all the best – and hope to see her here again at The Project Cottage!
In 2014 we’ll be launching a new collection of frames, prints and home decor accessories with a more modern look – we’re tentatively calling it Modern Industrial now, but reserve the right to change the name as the designs develop. I’ve also got plans for more digital prints for both kids and adults and we may also offer a download and print option on our website and Etsy. We’re optimistic our growth and reach will continue to build in 2014 – the sky’s the limit here at The Project Cottage – please stay tuned!
